New Lift/Escalator Law For Maharastra People
There have been lot of accidents in India because of Escalators and Lifts. A small snapshot of accidents those took place due to escalators and lifts in past few years in India is shown below. To keep check on these accidents, The Maharashtra Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks Act, 2017, was passed in the assembly on Thursday. This law says : [Source: Times Of India] 1- Third party insurance is mandatory for owners of lifts, escalators or moving walks, i.e in case of any mishappen or damage you can claim an insurance from owners of lifts or escalators. 2- Owners must take permission before changing the capacity of lifts. 3- An authorized official will be able to enter the buildings and establishments for inspecting lifts,escalators or moving walk. Every lift will be inspected at least once a year. 4- Licenses can be suspended or cancelled by the chief electrical inspector, if any provision of the Act or rule is violated. 5- Obligations for owners to m...
