Delhi HC paves way for recruitment of women in Territorial Army

The Delhi High Court today paved the way for recruitment of women in the Territorial Army (TA), saying any provision that bars them is ultra vires fundamental rights provided under the Constitution. The court also said that any provision of the Act which bars or bans recruitment of women into the TA would be ultra vires the fundamental rights of equality provided under the Constitution.  The petitioner had alleged in his plea "institutionalised discrimination" against women for not being recruited in the TA, which is an organisation of volunteers who get military training in order to be mobilised for the country's defence in case of an emergency. Now You can use metro card in DTC buses

Commuters travelling between Mori Gate and Mayur Vihar Phase III, Jahangirpuri and Anand Vihar, Mukherjee Nagar and Inderpuri will be among the first to get to use their Metro smart cards for paying for a bus ride in the city. The move is part of a month-long trial to shift to a ‘Common Mobility Card’ which could be used to travel in Metro, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and cluster buses in the city According to sources, the common mobility card would be accepted in all public transport buses in Delhi by March 31. The combined fleet of DTC and Cluster scheme buses is about 5,600. Buses of DTC and Cluster scheme have been equipped with ETMs, which will accept metro smart card thanks to secure access module (SAM) cards in the machines that allows real-time transactions. New Lift/Escalator Law For Maharastra People

There have been lot of accidents in India because of Escalators and Lifts. A small snapshot of accidents those took place due to escalators and lifts in past few years in India is shown below. To keep check on these accidents, The Maharashtra Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks Act, 2017, was passed in the assembly on Thursday. This law says : [Source: Times Of India] 1- Third party insurance is mandatory for owners of lifts, escalators or moving walks, i.e in case of any mishappen or damage you can claim an insurance from owners of lifts or escalators. 2- Owners must take permission before changing the capacity of lifts. 3- An authorized official will be able to enter the buildings and establishments for inspecting lifts,escalators or moving walk.
